It consists of practical and theoretical training.
We invite you to consult Voile Canada's complete Brevet Voile Croisière Élémentaire description.

Etc.

Two-part evaluation:

INTERMEDIATE CRUISING SAIL TRAINING
This course reinforces the skills developed in the "Basic Cruising Sailing" and "Basic Coastal Navigation" courses. Students will need to acquire the skills and experience necessary for successful "live aboard" cruising. You can take part in this training as part of a group or with friends!

Since this is a "LIFE ABOARD" course, we'll be sailing between 4 and 6 hours a day over a distance of around 120 Mn. We'll carry out numerous maneuvers (tacking, gybing, sailboat rigging, man-overboard recoveries).
We'll also take time to visit these magnificent islands, enjoy the beaches and multicoloured fish, and sample the local gastronomy.
During the week, as skipper, you'll have to prepare alternative routes, analyze the weather, open a route plan with the Coast Guard and lead the crew.
Crew members will also be asked to prepare one topos:
-
Managing life on board;
-
Seamanship;
-
Electrical system, batteries, etc;
-
Safety equipment;
-
Dead reckoning, taking stock;
-
How to react in emergency situations (grounding, water ingress, fire, etc.);
-
Interpret a weather report and plan a cruise according to the weather.

2-step assessment:
-
Practical exam on the last day of training;
-
Theoretical exam, a written test of 2 hours based on the book Voile croisière intermédiaire.

Prerequisites :
-
Brevet de voile élémentaire (basic cruising sailing certificate) or Brevet d'équipier compétent de croisière élémentaire (basic cruising competent crew member certificate);
-
Training for the Brevet de Navigation côtière élémentaire begun;
-
Operator Card (PCOP) ;
-
Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate (Marine) with DSC endorsement (VHF) ;
-
Ten days' experience as a crew member or skipper.
